Custom Women’s Overcoats

There is no doubt that we make the finest and most unique custom women’s overcoats that can be found anywhere, and each year we make coats for clients all around the world.

Women’s Gabardine Trench

The process starts with a sketch.

When we get an email from a client about having a coat made, the first step is to trade a couple emails to discuss the style, the weather where you live, and the durability and hand of various materials that we can mail to you to feel in person.

The style can be anything from a traditional trench coat to a caped inverness coat.  Anything from an asymmetrical 1920s style coat to something with a bit of 1960s mod styling.

1920s Style Asymmetrical Coat

For materials, we can use a cotton gabardine rainwear material, a handwoven Harris tweed, a heavy wool melton, a napped cashmere fabric or even a fur or a durable and luxurious faux fur (like the materials for the black coat pictured).

Once we have a design and are in the process of working through finding the perfect fabric, we will have you send a few measurements that you take at home (we can mail you a tape if you need one).

Then, depending on the style, we can also make an optional  “muslin” of the piece.  This is a cotton mock-up that we mail to you to try on.  You send us digital pics and your comments and we can revise the style as much as needed to get exactly the look you want.

Because we still do everything the traditional way and make each coat from start to finish here in our studio in Denver, Colorado, we can get exactly the fit and the style you want, no matter where you are or how different your body is from the clothing that is usually found in the shops.

If you would like to get started on a custom coat, just contact us and we can start working on some sketches.

A Seersucker Tuxedo

We love to make women’s suits.

Our business is 1/2 traditional menswear tailoring (which we sell through our Machete & Sons website) and 1/2 true old school couture.

The result is that we have become best known for making pieces that are somewhere between traditionally masculine dress and traditionally female dresses.

The suit pictured is one of our more “feminine” and curvy styles, even while it borrows many details from menswear including the mess jacket cut with peak lapels and a cummerbund around the waist.

The cummerbund, of course, is made with corset boning to beautifully shape the waist and the pants are super-fitted and cropped in length.

If pink isn’t your thing (and it certainly isn’t everyone’s!) check out some of the other postings for the same outfit in white and in black.

All of the amazing  wedding pictures shown were provided by Penny Dinn who offers wedding photography in the Los Angeles/Santa Barbara, California area and Kauai, Hawai (https://www.pennydinn.com/).

Lesbian Wedding Suits Gallery [Part 4]

Each year we make suits for the most amazing weddings.

Here are a few pics of a suit that we made for a recent wedding.

The style features a classic peak lapel jacket and a single breasted vest.

The pant is our famous ultra slim 4-seam pant.

For fabric, the bride choose a worsted wool flannel in a French blue color, with solid antique brass buttons, and a bold rusty orange for a handmade lapel buttonhole.

The lining is an amazing custom printed charmeuse.

The New Women’s Tuxedo

Formalwear is one of our specialties.

And although you may have seen some women’s tuxedos on the market, you haven’t seen any like this.

Why are our tuxedos unique?

Because each one is designed in collaboration with a client—-and every client is unique.

Some of the pieces incorporate wedding colors.

Some are super formal—-and others are super fun.

Some have a bit of a punk rock look—-and others are totally bridal.

In the end, the best look depends on the personality of the lady who wears it—-and the event that she is wearing it to.

We always love the idea of adding a bit of color—-even to our wedding gowns.

A touch of purple or gold or red can really make a look unique.

Or combine traditionally masculine and feminine details for a look that is totally yours.

Combining traditional menswear wool suitings with amazing silk brocades and satins can give the pieces a really formal touch.

We always can get tens of thousands of fabrics.  And can make virtually any details.

We work with clients all over the world every day.

For fit, we mail the clients “muslins”—-cotton mock-ups that you can try on and provide feedback on the style and look.

This insures a totally custom look via long distance.

Contact us and we can work on some sketches and designs for you.
