A Seersucker Tuxedo

We love to make women’s suits.

Our business is 1/2 traditional menswear tailoring (which we sell through our Machete & Sons website) and 1/2 true old school couture.

The result is that we have become best known for making pieces that are somewhere between traditionally masculine dress and traditionally female dresses.

The suit pictured is one of our more “feminine” and curvy styles, even while it borrows many details from menswear including the mess jacket cut with peak lapels and a cummerbund around the waist.

The cummerbund, of course, is made with corset boning to beautifully shape the waist and the pants are super-fitted and cropped in length.

If pink isn’t your thing (and it certainly isn’t everyone’s!) check out some of the other postings for the same outfit in white and in black.

All of the amazing  wedding pictures shown were provided by Penny Dinn who offers wedding photography in the Los Angeles/Santa Barbara, California area and Kauai, Hawai (https://www.pennydinn.com/).

Amazing Tailoring on the Runway

White Vest and Pant SuitEvery year we do a couple of runway shows to display our latest and most unique style.

One of our most recent shows took place at the  Museum of Nature and Science here in Denver.

We showed several women’s sportswear, outwear and formal wear looks.

The pics show some of our favorites:  a ivory wool herringbone suit with beige trim, cropped pants, and a flat cap; a purple tweed peplum jacket with a sporty brown topper, brown pants, and a bold silk cravat; an our of our famous rocker tailcoats shown with a velvet 8-panel cap.Denver Fashion Photographer Brent Andeck-4411

Almost all of the pieces we make are created with a specific client in mind.

A client contacts us and we start sketching and mailing her swatches of fabric until we have the perfect design.

We work with clients all around the world making clothing for lesbian weddings and other formal events, stage shows, and every day wear.

But a runway show is a chance to really have fun with our designs.

To us, every good design has an element of fantasy and evokes the classic designs of the past.

If you have a wedding or other special event, contact us and we can design something for you.

Lesbian Wedding Suit Gallery (pt2)

Lesbian Wedding Suit Butch LookHere is the latest batch of pics from one of the amazing weddings we worked on this year.

This gorgeous women’s tuxedo is cut from navy blue silk duppioni with a satin collar.  Duppioni is a wonderful fabric for women’s tuxedos—both feminine and formal.

We make the best suits out there for women.

We do this by combining our skills in true hand-tailored menswear (we also run the site www.DenverBespoke.com) and our abilities to shape fabric to fit curves.

But not only that, our suits are awesome because they are designed for the clients.
Often a client comes to us with something part way figured out in her imagination and we work with her to turn the idea into the perfect outfit for her wedding.

We make suits for brides in every part of the world each year using our Muslin Fitting Method.

Women’s Formalwear on the Runway!

Cropped Tuxedo Jacket with Silk and Lace Corset

We just completed one of the most fabulous runway shows we have ever put on.

For this show, we focused on our women’s formalwear collections—-which is what Denver Dressmakers is all about!

We led off with some of our amazing suits, pairing some of them with cummerbunds and some with corsets.

We showed some of our rocking tailcoats and some of our cropped jackets.  And we finished up with our mod tea-length dresses and finally a ball gown.

We don’t always show on the runway, but we felt that this was one of our best collections yet and we wanted everyone to see the amazing pieces coming out of our studio here in Denver, Colorado.

We even made it onto the front page of the Denver Post!

Everything we do here is couture—–which means that we can make something just for your event.  So if you see a suit or a dress that you want in a different color (say for a rock performance or a lesbian wedding), just drop us a line and we will discuss how to design the perfect look for you.

Every year, we make clothing for clients all over Europe, Australia, and the US, and we would love to make pieces for you.
