Couture 1950s-Style Ball Gowns

1950s Couture Ball GownHere are some pics of our amazing Seashell Dress.

Every gown that we make is one-of-a-kind and custom made for a client.  So we aren’t afraid to make a wedding gown with a little pop of color!

Designing the right gown for the right event is what we do—and this dress is perfect for a woman who loves a glamorous style with a touch of the mid-Century look.

When we work on a gown like this for a client, we have hundreds of fabrics and colors to choose from.  Any of the details can be designed and redesigned as we sketch to get the perfect look.

This piece invokes the 1950s and golden age of Hollywood glamour.—-The perfect dress to wear to a party in Monaco ala Grace Kelly in “To Catch a Thief” or for a fall wedding.

The skirt is partially inspired by the creations of couturier Charles James who was renowned for his sculptural drapery, and then paired with one of our boned halter vests with lacing in the back.

1950s Couture Wedding GownThe overskirt can be bustled up to reveal a pop of shocking golden orange.

These pieces are cut and sewn from hand-underlined silk duppioni.  By laying in a soft cotton layer, we are able to create a full bodied sculpted look that is wonderfully rumple resistant.

The halter bodice is made with spiral steel boning for a comfortable and flexible feeling.

When we make a ball gown like this one, we generally Muslin Fit all of the pieces.

For this process, we mail you a cotton mock-up of the dress to try on.  You send us digital pics and all of your comments and feedback and we rework the patterns to fit you exactly.

No more having your B-cup dress altered to fit a A-cup or a DD.  We start with your measurements and ship out a dress that fits.

We also made the 1950s style wedding hat and the freshwater pearl jewelry in colors to match the dress.  We love to make accessories.
